Location. Hotel Tjumpahan Spa is on a terraced hillside on the bank of the Tjampuhan River in Ubud, Indonesia. The hotel is one kilometer from Ubud Centre, Ubud Market, and Museum Puri Lukisan. The Monkey Forest and its troops of gray monkeys are two kilometers from the hotel.
Hotel Features. At the center of the hotel is the former home of Walter Spies, the founder of the Ubud artists' movement of the 1930s. A secluded outdoor pool lined with all manner of tropical greenery and sculpture is fed by a natural spring. A second pool on a lower level terrace includes a sundeck. The Spa is in a valley grotto decorated with traditional Balinese carving and stone sculpture. Spa services include Balinese massage, Swedish and acupressure massage. The hotel also offers a sauna, spa tub, and steam room. The Terrace Restaurant offers all day dining with a menu of Southeast Asian and Western cuisine, and includes a bar. Its location at the highest point on the property affords panoramic valley views. The Spa Café, set in a traditionally thatched pavilion, serves light refreshments and emphasizes healthy meals. Complimentary Tjumpahan breakfasts are served daily.

Guestrooms. The hotel's 67 ground floor rooms feature thatched roofs, wood paneling and floors, Balinese wood carvings and art, and wide balconies with views of the river valley. Room amenities include air conditioning and ceiling fans, direct dial phones and high speed Internet access. Turndown service is provided and in room massage is available. Rooms also include complimentary bottled water.

Expert Tip. Ubud is set in a land of scenic rivers and gorges, colorful villages and other attractions, many within walking distance. Maps of the surrounding area are available in most shops.
