Location. The Hotel Basico is an adults only hotel located one block from the beach in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. Xcaret stands three kilometers from this property.
Hotel Features. Traditional Mexican cuisine, including locally caught fish and handmade tortillas, are prepared at Hotel Restorant. La Azotea is a rooftop bar and terrace adjacent to two circular outdoor pools flanked by hammocks and cabanas. The bar and pools afford views of the Caribbean Ocean. A concierge assists with tour arrangements, while the front desk remains open 24 hours a day to offer car rental services, currency exchange and reservation assistance. An added perk, guests are offered complimentary access to a trendy beach club, Mamita's, located near the hotel.

Guestrooms. This two story property offers 15 industrial chic guestrooms, all referred to by feminine names. Rooms reflect urban beach ambience via inflatable inner tubes hanging from white concrete walls. Select rooms feature wooden toolboxes that have replaced traditional nightstands. The toolboxes open to reveal ashtrays, Polaroid film for the white cameras that are attached to the beds, and remote controls for flat screen televisions. Pillowtop mattresses, oversize pillows and white, 100 percent cotton sheets are provided. Rooms feature heavy blond wood doors fitted with saw handles, behind which stand small, enclosed toilet areas. Toilets feature mini disco balls connected to chains that function as flushing mechanisms. Sinks and bathtubs share the bedroom space.
