Location. Surrounded by a seven acre plantation of sugar maple trees, Maple Lodge is adjacent to the Cardrona River and three kilometers from Lake Wanaka in Wanaka, New Zealand.
Hotel features. Maple Lodge is a small rural boutique hotel in a locale that offers year round recreation. The property offers hiking and biking trails, bird watching and a spa tub. During winter months, the hotel provides shuttle service to area ski slopes. The dining room, decorated with old farm implements, includes a vaulted ceiling and a fireplace built of local Otago schist. The hotel does not have a restaurant, but provides daily complimentary cooked to order breakfasts in the dining room. Additional amenities include a business center which provides complimentary high speed Internet access, and a library which offers books, games and videos, and photo processing on site. Parking is complimentary. Pets are not permitted at this hotel.

Guestrooms. The two story hotel (no elevators) contains seven suites with balconies or patios and views of the surrounding mountains. Décor is contemporary country style, and color schemes vary from suite to suite. Suites feature custom made wood furniture, leather arm chairs, and original artwork. Amenities include complimentary high speed Internet access and local calls. Additional amenities include coffee and tea makers and complimentary bottled water. Bathrooms include walk in showers with under floor heating and heated towel rods and mirrors. All suites are nonsmoking.

Expert Tip. Three kilometers from the hotel, Lake Wanaka offers year round recreation, from swimming and hiking to fishing and boating. The spectacular reds and golds of the fall foliage bordering the lake are ideal subjects for photographers.
