Location. The two storey Protea Hotel King George, with its wide terraces and lush gardens, is located in George, Western Cape, South Africa, at the foot of the Outeniqua mountains and next to the George Golf Club. George city centre is two kilometres from the hotel and George Airport is five kilometres away.
Hotel Features. Complimentary newspapers and wireless Internet are available in the light filled lobby, and the hotel offers two swimming pools and a children's playground. Children can also join the supervised kids' club. Staff provide an express check in and check out service and can arrange childcare, and complimentary secure parking is provided.

Protea King George's Fairway Terrace Restaurant overlooks the George Golf Course and the Outeniqua mountains. It is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and offers buffet and a la carte options. The rustic Rex Tavern, with its dark wood furniture and open fire, serves drinks and light meals, and has a patio overlooking the golf and mountains, while the Fairway Patio also has fine views, and offers an a la carte menu. A complimentary breakfast is served to guests each morning.

Wireless Internet is available in public areas at Protea George, and there is a business centre with three conference rooms seating up to 300 people.

As well as being next to the George Golf Course, the hotel is located in an area that offers a wide range of activities, with numerous hiking trails five kilometres from the hotel, and the world class surfing of Victoria Bay at a 12 kilometre distance.

Guestrooms. The 109 rooms all have contemporary natural toned decor with oak and beech wood furnishings, and amenities include air conditioning, coffee/tea makers, complimentary newspapers, safes, and designer toiletries.

Expert Tip. Africa's last remaining passenger steam train, the Outeniqua Choo Tjoe, starts three kilometres from the hotel and winds through spectacular scenery between George and Mossel Bay.

From George Airport (GRJ):
Distance to Protea Hotel King George is 5 kilometres, approximately 10 minutes' drive.

Getting there. A taxi from George Airport to the hotel will cost approximately 80 ZAR (price subject to change). George railway station is 3 kilometres from the hotel.

Getting around. The best way to explore the area and its spectacular scenery is by car.

Driving directions. On exiting George Airport, turn left onto the R102 highway.
Follow the R102 until reaching a T junction and turn left onto York Street.
At the second set of traffic lights turn left onto Plattner Boulevard.
Turn right onto Barkhuizen Drive.
Follow signs to Protea Hotel King George.
