Location. One of the city's tallest buildings, the First Hotel Plaza is a central hotel housed in a landmark glass tower and situated 200 metres from the train station and 500 metres from the harbour. Västerås Airport is nine kilometres from the hotel, and takes approximately 10 minutes to reach by car.
Hotel Features. Guests can relax with a sauna and a range of spa treatments, enjoy discounted use of a nearby fitness centre and sip cocktails in the panoramic Sky Bar, set on the 24th floor. Those on business can make use of the hotel's eight meeting and boardrooms and guests arriving by car will find garage parking (surcharge). Further amenities include a 24 hour front desk, room service and dry cleaning facilities.

The First Hotel Plaza houses the Karlsson på Taket, an informal modern restaurant located on the 23rd floor with panoramic city views, serving French and Mediterranean dishes along with regional specialties.

Guestrooms. The 203 guestrooms feature simple, modern decor with carpeted floors. Amenities include wireless Internet, satellite television with pay movies, telephones, trouser presses, and desks. Bathrooms provide hair dryers.

Expert Tip. The Cathedral, situated 500 metres from the hotel, is a Gothic brick structure with a 300 foot tower built in the 17th century. The cathedral square is home to a bronze statue by the renowned Swedish sculptor Carl Milles and opposite the cathedral is the Old Bishop's Palace.

Driving Directions

Getting there. A shuttle runs from the airport to the train station, 200 metres from the hotel. Alternatively taxis are available and cost approximately 300 SEK to the hotel.

Driving directions. From the airport, follow signs for the E18 and head towards Oslo. Turn off the motorway at Emausmotet and turn left at the roundabout. Follow Kopparbergsvägen until reaching Stora Gatan. Turn left onto Stora Gatan and left again onto Karlsgaten.
