The Hotel Astoria is housed in a purpose built glass and concrete building dating from 1957, and situated 500 metres from the Picasso Museum in the centre of the historic city of Lucerne. The 160 guestrooms are spread over six floors and have light modern decor in neutral colours with light wood furnishings. All guestrooms include satellite television, direct dial phones, Internet connections, climate control, complimentary bottled water, safes and marbled bathrooms with hair dryers.
Guests can dine in one of three restaurants; the Restaurant Thai Garden features far Eastern decor and serves Thai specialities. Restaurant La Cucina serves Italian food including home made pasta and pizzas from a wood fired oven, and the Restaurant Latino serves Mediterranean food and features a separate bar. After a meal, guests can dance the night away in the hotel's rooftop nightclub, The Penthouse, which affords superb views across Lucerne. Parking is available nearby for a charge. Guests can visit the Natural History and Archaeology Museum 600 metres away, or see the splendid Alpine views of Pilatus five kilometres away. Lucerne railway station is 600 metres from the hotel and Zurich Airport is 70 kilometres away, with an approximate driving time of 90 minutes.
Driving Directions
Taxis can be found outside terminals A and B; fare to the hotel is approximately 230 CHF. An hourly train service runs from the airport to Lucerne Station, which is about 600 metres from the hotel.
