Location. The Mary Arden Inn is located in the Warwickshire village of Wilmcote, England, opposite the house of Shakespeare's mother Mary Arden. Wilmcote is two miles from the centre of Stratford upon Avon, home of the Royal Shakespeare Company. Wilmcote Railway Station is 200 metres from the Inn.
Hotel Features. The Mary Arden Inn dates back to the 18th century and is an typical English country pub with wooden panelled bar, oak beams, stone floors, open fire and a patio to enjoy a traditional ale. Complimentary newspapers are offered in the bar. There is parking available nearby.

The Mary Arden Inn serves traditional bar food such as Cod and Chips, or Steak and Ale in a Suet Pudding, available in the restaurant or in the lounge bar with open fireplace. Breakfast is complimentary.

Guestrooms. The 11 guestrooms at the Mary Arden Inn have a decor of English country patterned fabrics and some antique style furniture. A copy of the Complete Works of Shakespeare rests on each bedside table.

Expert Tip. Mary Arden's House is a thatched and timber framed Tudor farmstead, set in green fields framed by dry stone walls and box hedges. There are falconry demonstrations, a dovecote, cider mill, gypsy caravans and a resident blacksmith.

Driving Directions

From Birmingham International Airport (BHX):
Distance to the Mary Arden Inn is 21 miles, approximately 35 minutes' drive.

Getting there. A free Skyrail monorail runs every couple of minutes from Terminal 1 to Birmingham's International train station and the city's National Exhibition Centre (NEC). Services run Wilmcote railway station, 200 metres from the inn. Black cabs are available 24 hours a day from an official rank in front of the airport passenger terminals. The fare to the Inn is around 50 GBP. Buses link the surrounding areas to the airport. Prices are all subject to change.

Getting around. Wilmcote is compact and easily explored on foot. The railway station connects to Birmingham and Stratford and there are bus services throughout the surrounding area.

Driving directions. From Birmingham Airport, head first for the A45/Coventry road and then turn at the round about onto the M42.
Exit at Junction 3a onto the M40 towards London/Warwick/Stratford.
Exit at Junction 16 onto A3400/Stratford Road towards Henley and continue for nearly ten miles.
Turn right at Feathberd Lane toward Wilmcote and continue on the Station Road where the Mary Arden I nn is found.
