You can't walk more than a few paces in Chester without coming across somewhere good to
eat and drink
, as often as not housed in a medieval crypt or Tudor building. Some of the

are highly atmospheric and most serve bar meals. A batch of annual
festivals
keeps the town's concert halls and churches busy: the Folk Festival in May, Young Musician's Festival in June and the renowned
Summer Music Festival
every July, which sees outdoor concerts and fireworks in Grosvenor Park, as well as a simultaneous Fringe Festival. There's also a Literature Festival in October.
