Throughout St George's you will find plenty of
arts and crafts shops
, many aimed at cruise-ship passengers and varying in price and quality. Among the better ones is Art Fabrick (tel 473/440-0568) on Young Street, where local
batik
artists can usually be seen at work. Fedon Books (tel 473/435-2665) on H.A. Blaize Street has an extensive range of Caribbean literature and history books, and Turbo Charge Record (tel 473/440-0586) on St John's Street is recommended for recordings of local reggae, soca and ragga music.
The town has a smattering of entertainment options, including
Rudolf's Bar
and
Tropicana Inn
, both of which offer
live steel-band and calypso music
in the evenings. St George's also has a cinema: the Regal Cinema on Lagoon Road (tel 473/440-2403) screens current mainstream films and charges EC$7-15.
If you get the chance, go and catch a day of
cricket
at Queens Park National Stadium (

), a five- to ten-minute walk north of St George's. Though ticket prices rise as high as EC$40 for an international game, for EC$5 you can watch it sitting among the graves atop Cemetery Hill.
