An excellent place to tuck into a plate of
shawarma
accompanied by a selection of
mezze
and salads. Seating is upstairs with a view over the street, or you can have your
shawarma
and salad in a pitta to take away instead.
Al-Andalus Restaurant
Off the southeastern corner of Manger Sq. Daily 8am-5pm. Moderate. Licensed.
Catering mainly for tour groups, this cosy restaurant serves hamburgers and cheeseburgers in addition to more Middle Eastern fare such as
shashlik
and other kebabs.
Al-Bustan
Orient Palace Hotel, northeast corner of Manger Sq. Tel 274 2798. Daily 4-11pm (snacks and sandwiches served before 4pm). Expensive. Licensed.
The poshest eating in town but at prices that compare very well with Jerusalem's, with the option of outdoor eating. There's a good choice of entrees and desserts, and main courses that include salmon steak and fillet of beef as well as pasta and pizza.
St George Restaurant

A fine selection of mid-price grilled meat, fish and poultry in comfortable surroundings, with a well-stocked bar. Specialities include
shashlik,
lamb chops and a complete fish dinner.
