Bus companies There are several minibus companies connecting St John's with the towns and villages across the island, but the biggest and most reliable is DRL Coachlines (tel 738-8088, www .drlgroup.com ), which has daily departures from the airport and the Education Building at Memorial University for towns along the Trans-Canada: principal stops are Clarenville ($28), Gander ($42), Grand Falls-Windsor ($52), Deer Lake ($69), Corner Brook ($73), Stephenville ($79) and Channel-Port aux Basques ($90). DRL also goes to the Burin Peninsula, departing daily from St John's and arriving in Grand Bank and Fortune ($20 one-way to both places). Newhook's Transportation, 13 Queen St (tel 726-4876), has frequent services to Argentia ($18), connecting with the ferry to Nova Scotia. For services to Trinity and Bonavista villages, call Catalina Taxi (tel 682-9977), whose minibuses go to the Lockston intersection, 6km from Trinity, for $20, and to Bonavista for $24. To get to Harbour Grace and the Conception Bay area, take Fleetline Buses (1 Mon-Sat; $10; tel 722-2608) from the Delta St John's Hotel , 120 New Gower St. You can also get to the north shore of the Bonavista Peninsula with Bonavista North Transportation, 1 Macklin Place (tel 579-3188). Cheeseman's (tel 753-7022) goes daily to the Burin Peninsula, picking up door-to-door and charging $20 one-way.
