In Caviahue, Centenario
buses
stop at the Vi-Car café and fuel station, by the lake front, on the RP26 through town; El Petroleo stops a couple of blocks away at Mapuche s/n. From Caviahue, buses continue through to Copahue in summer only (Dec-Feb). A
remise
between the two resorts costs $10. Set on the slope four blocks back from the lakeshore in Caviahue is the
tourist office
, Bungalows 5 & 6 (tel 02948/495144, fax 495036) where you'll find information on horseriding and walks.
As for
accommodation
, half or full board is compulsory in many places in high season.
In Caviahue
, the most luxurious place is the large
Apart Hotel Lago Caviahue
fronting the lake (tel & fax 02948/495074; $80-100), with optional full board in high season.
Hotel Caviahue
, 8 de Abril s/n (tel & fax 02948/495044; $60-80), imports thermal waters for its bathing rooms and offers discounts from Easter to December.
Camping Hueney
($5per person; closed April-Nov) has fairly basic services - just a confitería and some toilets - but a pleasant siting, 3km out of town on the route to Copahue.
In Copahue
, the least expensive options are
Bravo Departamentos
, Ducloux s/n (tel 02948/495028; $50 for a four-person self-catering apartment; closed March-Oct);
Hostería Pino Azul
(tel & fax 02948/495071; no cards; $80-100, with full board; closed Easter-Nov); and the friendly but rudimentary
Hotel S.U.P.E
, Coronel Duclaud s/n (tel 02948/495005; $80-100, with full board), which offers a bed and no board rate out of season. Comfortable
Valle del Volcán
, Ducloux 120 (tel & fax 02948/495048;
copahue@valledelvolcan.com
; $100-150, with half board; closed June-Oct), is one of the few modern places, with luxuries such as satellite TV in the rooms, but little choice of menu for its full-board status. You can
camp
opposite the
Pino Azul
(tel 02948/495071; hot water; closed Easter-Nov).
