Orientation
is not difficult as "downtown" Mohammedia covers quite a small area. Between the
rail station
and the
Ville Nouvelle
, there is a small
kasbah/Medina
area, built in a period of Portuguese occupation and still preserving their gateways. To the west of the kasbah, a sequence of boulevards leads down to the beach.
Buses
and
grands taxis
operate beside a small park on Rue de Baghdad, just in front of the train station; local bus #1 runs from here, too, down to the beach.
Mohammedia has most facilities you'll need. There is a branch of the BMCI
bank
at the top end of Avenue des F.A.R., facing the small roundabout in front of the main entrance to the kasbah, and a branch of the BMCE on Rue Rachidi, one block to the west of Rue de Fes. The
PTT
is on Avenue Mohammed Zerktouni, also one block to the west of Rue de Fes - and facing the Parc du Casino. The
travel agency
Fedala Voyages at 35 Avenue des F.A.R. (tel 02/332 7390) is helpful for confirming flights, arranging car rental, etc.
