For its size, Mohammedia's choice of
restaurants
is impressive.
Breakfast and snacks
can be had at several pavement cafés facing the main entrance to the kasbah: the
Tiznit
and
Tarfaya
both serve grills and brochettes. Just inside the main gate of the kasbah, on the right, there are a number of similar café-restaurants worth a try.
Mohammedia has a few
bars
additional to the restaurants and hotels: the
Ranch Club
, for instance, on Rue de Fes, facing the Parc du Casino (the old Casino itself is now permanently closed). If it's nightlife you crave, it would be better to stay in Casa and explore the Aïn Diab corniche.
Restaurant au Bec Fin
, Rue Cheikh Chouaib Doukali, near the port gates. A small, but highly recommended restaurant with a truly Spanish flavour. Moderate.
Restaurant La Frégate
, Rue Oued Zem, near the
Hôtel La Falaise
. Lobster, prawns, shrimps and all manner of seafish. Generous helpings, particularly of shellfish paella. And there's a takeaway and delivery service. Moderate to expensive.
Restaurant du Parc
, Rue de Fes, facing the Parc du Casino and next to the Ranch Club. Excellent, with fish specialities. Moderate.
Restaurant du Port
, 1 Rue du Port, next to the port gates. Previously known as
Chez Irène
, this is possibly the town's best-known restaurant, renowned for its charcoal grills, served in a flower-strewn garden. Indoors, there's strongly nautical decor. Same patron as
La Brasserie Bavaroise
, 133/139 Rue Allal Ben Abdallah, Casablanca. Moderate to expensive.
Restaurant Sans Pareil
, Rue Farhat Hachad - near the
Hôtel La Falaise
. French cuisine, seafood and paella. Moderate.
Restaurant des Sports
, Rue Farhat Hachad. Large and classy, with 'folkloric spectacles' at weekends in the season. The owners trained at Cornell University - and it shows. Excellent seafood. Moderate to expensive.
