There are reasonably helpful tourist offices at the international and domestic airports, railway stations and bus terminals, and the Government of India tourist office at 88 Janpath, just south of Connaught Place (Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, Sat 9am-4.30pm; tel 011/332 0005 or 333 0008), is a good place to pick up information on Delhi's sites, city tours, shopping, cultural events and accommodation. They also provide free maps of the city; you'll find the same ones sold in the streets at negotiable prices. The information counter at the less busy DTTDC (Delhi Tourism and Transport Development Corporation) office, Bombay Life Building, Middle Circle (Mon-Fri 9am-6pm, Sat 9am-1pm; tel 011/331 4229) has an extremely useful office, where you can change money, book trains and reserve accommodation.

For details of exhibitions or cultural events in Delhi, pick up a local magazine from any bookstore or street stall. The excellent weekly Delhi Diary lists useful information on current events, lectures, exhibitions, films and TV listings and has a comprehensive directory and map. Monthly First City is far more readable though, with feature articles, a comprehensive city directory, reviews and listings.

City Scan also features a range of topical issues, from sports and arts to politics and industry.
