Redline also have a depot in town at 9 Edward St (tel 03/6424 5100), where you can buy tickets, wait for your bus and leave luggage ($1 per item), while Tassie Link (tel 03/6334 4442) services leave from the tourist office at 5 Best St. The Backpackers Barn, next door at 10-12 Edward St, acts as a collecting point for Maxwell's Coaches transport service to Cradle Mountain, Frenchmans Cap and Walls of Jerusalem (tel 03/6492 8093; service on demand; price according to number of passengers).

Firms located at the airport and ferry terminal include Autorent-Hertz (tel 03/6424 1013), Avis Tasmania (tel 03/6427 9797) and Budget (tel 03/6427 0650); among cheaper alternatives are Lo-Cost Auto Rent, 23 King St (tel 03/6424 9922; from $55 per day, 4WDs from $105 per day), and the popular Rent-A-Bug, Murray St, near the ferry terminal, East Devonport (tel 03/6427 9304; VW Beetles from $44.80 per day).
