The bus station is close to the centre of town, with the main waterfront street, Vassiléos Pávlou , right ahead of you, and three banks nearby. Moto Makis near the causeway, on the Areópoli road (tel 07330/25 111), has motorbikes and scooters for rent. You can check ferry sailings at the Rozaki Shipping and Travel Agency (tel 07330/22 650, fax 22 229) on the waterfront; the latter also do car rental and will change travellers' cheques and money. An EOT office at Vassiléos Yeoryíou 20 appears to be permanently closed. A trip of at least three days is worth considering for the Máni; the extensive and security-conscious Hasanakos bookstore is worth scouring for books on the Máni, and food supplies can be bought from the large supermarket behind the bus station.
