There are several
restaurants
to choose from in Badacsony, the best of which is the
Bacchus
, a ten-minute walk north of the centre towards Badacsonytomaj at Kossuth Lajos utca 1. Planted amongst lush vineyards, its elevated position affords magnificent views of the lake, whilst the food is exceptional and the service swift. Another remote spot, also with tremendous views, is the
Kisfaludy Ház
by the Róza Szegedy museum, which offers excellent food and Hungarian gypsy music. Back in the centre, the
Hárksert Vendéglo
, in the
Hotel Neptun
(daily noon-9pm), offers a more standard Hungarian menu but is a pleasant antidote to the
Halászkert
at Park utca 5 - the definitive tourist restaurant, with pricey food, waiters touting at the entrance and musicians eagerly plucking away in the background (April-Nov daily 11am-midnight). Aside from the restaurants there are stacks of
wine stalls
in between the train station and Park utca. In Badacsonytomaj, the restaurant at the
Borbarátok
is the place to go, particularly in view of its fine wine selection (daily noon-10pm).
