The train station is half a mile south of the town centre over the river on the A27, with buses arriving either in the High Street or River Road. The tourist office is at 61 High St (June-Aug Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, Sat & Sun 10am-5pm; Sept-May Mon-Fri 9am-5pm, Sat & Sun 10am-3pm; tel 01903/882268, ). For accommodation , try Portreeves Acre , The Causeway (tel 01903/883277; £40-50) a welcoming place with en-suite rooms south of the Queen's Bridge, or the venerable Swan Hotel at the bottom of High Street (tel 01903/882314, ; £60-70), a fine old house with a cosy adjoining restaurant. Castle View (tel 01903/883029; £40-50), next door to the tourist office above the tearooms of the same name, is reasonable, and neighbouring Dukes Restaurant , 65 High St, with its spectacular gilded ceiling, also has a few rooms available (tel 01903/883847, ; £40-50). Arundel's youth hostel (tel 01903/882204; closed Nov to mid-Feb) is in a large Georgian house by the river at Warningcamp, a mile and a half northeast of town. You can camp at the hostel, or try the Maynards site (tel 01903/882075) at the top of the hill on the A27 two miles southeast of town. First choice for reasonably priced, good-quality food is the restaurant attached to the White Hart pub over the river at 3 Queen St (tel 01903/882374); alternatively try the Red Lion , on the High Street, for solid pub grub and real ales. Butlers Wine Bar , 25 Tarrant St (tel 01903/882222), is a popular choice for steak lovers.
