Though less attractive than its sister town, Ahrweiler, BAD NEUENAHR has a couple of things worth seeing: the Williborduskirche on Schweizerstrasse, with its Romanesque west tower and the usual melange of architectural details, and the Beethovenhaus on Beethovenstrasse, a Baroque town-house where the composer used to spend his holidays, probably to benefit from the town's thermal springs. Bad Neuenahr is still a well-known Kurort : the riverside Kurgarten (daily 7am-9.30pm; DM2.50/¬1.25) and the classically elegant Thermal Badehaus are survivors from an era when wealthy families from all over Europe came here to enjoy the waters and hothouse social life. Another big attraction is the Spielbank in Casinostrasse, the largest casino in Germany. The roulette wheels start rolling daily at 2pm (DM5/¬2.50 admission).
